Part of the History Trail

There are many of these historical
markers in our town, twenty-four
to be exact! While waiting for Samantha
we drove around and saw a few that
are on the outskirts of town. So much
history and history that we didn't know!

This is where the fort stood until 1869

We have a booklet dated 1976 with a map
that shows the location of each marker and
gives a brief history of each spot.

This one says:
"On August 17, 1746 Ezekiel Wallingford,
thinking he heard bears trampling his
cornfield here, left the fort to investigate.
He was soon surrounded by Indians who
shot and scalped him dead." Yikes!

This was the view on on of the back roads.
